Ce «quartet» a fait immédiatement l’unanimité et s’ensuit l’enregistrement du troisième CD du Trio Grande pour le label De Werf: «Un matin plein de promesses». «(...) Troisième disque d’un Trio qui, incroyable mais vrai, existe depuis quelques quinze années! Un disque tous les cinq ans, c’est quasi de l’ascèse en ces temps de redondance et de pléthore discographique. Il faut dire que le Trio Grande n’est en rien comparable à l’immense majorité des combos bleus qui peuplent la scène belge. Impertinent quand l’industrie prône le politiquement correct, libertaire quand le néoclassicisme est la règle hors de laquelle il n’est pas de salut, jubilatoire quand il est de bon ton de s’ennuyer sur scène. Ajouter une pièce à un puzzle qui fonctionne en autarcie depuis tant d’années est une entreprise d’autant plus risquée que l’invité est un pianiste et que, jusqu’alors, le Trio a toujours évolué loin des balises harmoniques. Risque d’obtenir un 3+1, de provoquer un collage artificiel, voire de dénaturer la démarche originelle. Le résultat est d’autant plus sidérant: comme les concerts l’avaient laissé supposer, l’alchimie prend au-delà de tous les espoirs et Matthew Bourne est totalement en phase avec ses trois martiens de partenaires. The third record from the Trio who, strange but true, have existed for some fifteen years! One record every five years, bordering on asceticism in these times of redundancy and excess. It must be pointed out that the Trio Grande cannot be compared to the large majority of combos on the Belgian scene. Impertinent when the industry advocates political correctness, libertarian when neo-classicism is the norm, jubilant when being bored on stage is expected. Adding a piece to a puzzle that has worked well for so many years is even riskier than the guest being a pianist when the Trio has always evolved away from harmonic signposts. Risking 3+1, an artificial collage and spoiling the original approach, the results are even more astonishing: as can be assumed from the concerts, the alchemy is beyond your wildest dreams and Matthew Bourne is in sync with his three Martian partners. Hold the line! est le dernier album de Trio Grande & Matthew Bourne. Une fois encore le label W.E.R.F. leur réitère sa confiance!
Après quinze années d’existence et deux CD en 1994 et 2001, le Trio Grande rencontre le pianiste anglais Matthew Bourne (que Geoff Amos a eu l’intelligence et la générosité de leur faire découvrir) pour une création en août 2006 au Gaume Jazz Festival.
