Our pedagogy is characterized by a practical, deeply felt and embodied approach. By putting their whole bodies into play, participants have a chance to feel the music and rhythms before analysing them. Our aim is to clearly and generously give them a few essential tools they’ll need to develop autonomy and personal creativity.
The Collectif du Lion team includes many in-house and guest artists, such as musicians, dancers, choreographers, poets and singers, who are all advanced instructors active in higher education for the arts or in the socio-cultural sector, both in Belgium and abroad. Our pedagogy may be expressed through various activities including regular classes, workshops and master classes, and organised either solely by the Collectif du Lion or in partnership with existing institutions.
• During tours or one-off concerts, these teaching musicians can offer master classes for musicians, dancers and actors or musical presentations for schools or other institutions.
• We offer improvisation, orchestration or instrument classes (tubas, trombones, clarinets, saxes, traditional and jazz percussion, flutes, trumpets...) and rhythm classes with or without instruments.
• In the area of dance and performing arts involving speech, classes offered up to now include “Rhythm Without Instruments”, “Rhythm and Movement” and “Rhythm, Words and Movements”.
